This week, the hubby and I got hit with colds! A rough start to say the least and definitely an eye opener when you have a baby lol. Happy to say we’re feeling much better today so I wanted to share a quick recap with you guys before we start our road trip to CHARLESTON!
I have to say, I’m very thankful our colds hit when they did and not today. Charleston has been on the top of my list of places to visit and although the trip would’ve been fun regardless, it’s that much better when you’re feeling healthy…am I right? 🙂
The first few days were spent mainly indoors trying to recover with lots of liquids and soup. Our main concern was keeping Cameran healthy, which sadly didn’t last very long. She ended up catching our cold, but is in good spirits. She is one tough cookie, and one happy baby!
For all you breastfeeding mamas, the antibodies from your breastmilk help fight off those illnesses/may prevent your baby from getting sick as often. I had no idea until recently and feel even more thankful I continued to nurse!
The weather has so been so beautiful in Tampa lately – low 80’s and dry! Once we were feeling up to it, we went out for our family walks. Summers in Florida can be brutal so we try to take advantage this time of year. The fresh air definitely helped!
Hyde Park Village is a great shopping area to stroll around – new stores and restaurants are constantly opening! We love coming here.
If you guys haven’t gotten your hands on Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook Cravings, you MUST. All of the recipes we’ve tried out so far have been SO good. One of our faves is the Lemon Arugula Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe Recipe – we used pappardelle noodles that we recently picked up at St. Pete’s Saturday Morning Market!
Mornings with Cameran are my absolute favorite. We’re both refreshed after a (good) night’s sleep and she’s just the happiest girl! Lately, I’ve been reading to her as part of our routine – schedules help break up the day! And that includes nap time 😉 Lately, she has been touching everything and putting them all in her mouth, and books are no exception.
Do you guys remember all the Beatrix Potter books?! I remember reading them as a kid so I was excited to find a whole set on sale at Barnes and Noble!
This past week, I received Varieteas‘ January box! It was perfect timing considering we were all sick. I plan to test these all out and share with you guys my thoughts in a blog post. So far the green tea is my favorite! Flavors change monthly with a subscription.
The hubs and I were finally feeling better yesterday and thought dinner out would be fun! Bartaco in Hyde Park is one of our go-to’s for good food, drinks, and atmosphere. And let’s be serious, I was curious about the new secret taco!
Since I was still feeling a little under the weather, I ordered their grapefruit ginger agua fresca hoping that boost of vitamin C would help. Whether it helped or not, it was so refreshing! Order it 😉
We started things off with chips and guacamole because theirs is one of the BEST. But I have to say, their grilled corn may be my new favorite! You can ask for it on the cob or off. We also had the pork tamale, which was so good!
Is it just me or does a tray of tacos just make you SO happy?! We ordered a little bit of everything as you can probably tell. Try it out for yourself – you really can’t go wrong! But you guys, I have to give props to the secret taco: coffee braised SHORT RIB taco. It was tender, flavorful, and so perfectly balanced. I swear the secret taco never disappoints.
And what’s dinner without dessert? We ordered the Spiced Chocolate Pudding that had an amazing crunchy hazelnut topping…two spoons, please!
We needed a few things for our road trip so we stopped at Target! I always find myself in their decor aisles, what about you? Not sure if Cam appreciated all the pieces as much as I did…
Hope you guys enjoyed the mini recap! A post of our Charleston trip will be made when I get back, but in the meantime, follow along on social! @MrsJenFrick on Instagram and @TheMrsFrick on Snapchat <3
